Staff Software Engineer - Test Automation (DOCSIS/CMTS)

About the role

Vistance Networks (Aurora Networks, formerly CommScope's Access Networks Solutions) is looking for a Staff QA Engineer to join its Broadband and Network group in Bangalore, working in a hybrid setting. The role tests cloud-native microservices that integrate complex embedded CMTS systems, with a focus on designing, developing and running scalable automated test solutions using an AI-centric approach.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks for microservices and CMTS embedded platforms
• Build test suites covering functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, resiliency and scale testing
• Automate validation of APIs, Kubernetes-based services, telemetry and embedded system interactions
• Develop reusable test tools, simulators, mock services and infrastructure
• Analyze logs, packet captures, telemetry and system metrics to find root causes and validate fixes
• Collaborate with development, DevOps and architecture teams to improve product quality and testability
• Drive automation strategy, best practices and continuous improvement across the QA organization
• Mentor engineers on automation frameworks, coding standards and quality engineering methodologies
• Define test strategies, test plans and validation approaches for microservices, CMTS/DOCSIS platforms and embedded devices
• Create and run detailed test cases and end-to-end, integration, regression, interoperability and system-level test suites

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, with 8+ years in QA or software engineering
• Testing of embedded systems (hardware/software) with microservices
• Exposure to AI-assisted test automation and quality engineering practices
• Experience in QA methodologies
• Strong experience in test automation development with Python, PyTest, Robot Framework or similar
• Expertise in DOCSIS/CMTS and broadband access network technologies
• Experience testing cloud-native microservices, REST APIs, gRPC services, Kubernetes and Docker-based deployments
• Linux, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP and distributed systems knowledge, with strong troubleshooting skills

Required skills

• Strong programming and scripting skills focused on automation framework development
• Preferred: large-scale automation, performance, soak and resiliency testing
• Preferred: observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or Splunk
• Preferred: simulators, test harnesses and automated validation environments
• Preferred: virtualization, cloud platforms and broadband technologies such as RPD, vCCAP and telemetry services
