Staff Software Engineer - Networking

About the role

Databricks is building a world‑class data and AI platform and needs a Staff Software Engineer with a networking background to help create the core networking infrastructure that powers all of its products. As a seed member of the Bengaluru team, you will design and implement backend connectivity services that support millions of VMs and enable scalable communication between the control plane and compute plane.

Key responsibilities

• Build new backend connectivity services that power millions of virtual machines on Databricks.
• Lead the design and development of services that connect the control plane with the compute plane, improving scalability and cloud‑resource efficiency.
• Collaborate with product management, operations, and other engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable networking systems.

Required profile

• 12+ years of production‑level experience in Python, Java, Scala, C++ or a similar language.
• 7+ years developing large‑scale distributed systems from scratch.
• Experience working on SaaS platforms or with Service‑Oriented Architectures.
• Extensive experience in the networking domain.
