Staff Software Engineer (Infrastructure)

About the role

Databricks is building the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Infrastructure Backend team in Bengaluru, you will help design and operate large‑scale distributed services that power our customers’ data workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate distributed systems and at‑scale service architectures, including monitoring and workflow orchestration.
• Build high‑performance client libraries and services for cloud storage back‑ends such as AWS S3 and Azure Blob Store.
• Develop reliable, scalable services using Scala, Kubernetes and data pipelines (Apache Spark, Databricks) that support pricing infrastructure serving millions of cluster‑hours daily.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 12+ years of production experience with languages such as Python, Java, Scala or C++.
• 6+ years building large‑scale distributed systems from the ground up.
• Experience with SaaS platforms or service‑oriented architectures.
• Prior work on infrastructure‑focused projects is a plus.
