Staff Nurse – Ophthalmic Department

About the role
We are seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join the Ophthalmic Department at the Borders Eye Centre, part of NHS Borders. The role offers the chance to work in both outpatient clinics and the cataract theatre, supporting patients with a wide range of eye conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred nursing care in the ophthalmic outpatient setting.
- Assist in cataract surgical procedures and provide peri‑operative support.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective treatment pathways.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) with the right to work in the UK.
- Motivated, proactive and able to work within a small, dynamic team.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, high‑standard care.
Required skills
- Ophthalmic nursing experience or a strong interest in eye care.
- Experience in cataract theatre environments is desirable.
