Staff Nurse CTVS - CCU

About the role

The Staff Nurse will work in a Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Intensive Care Unit, providing critical care to patients recovering from major heart and vascular procedures. The role involves continuous monitoring, medication administration, emergency response, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic parameters, ECG rhythms, ventilator settings, chest drains, urine output, and cardiac device function.
• Administer high‑alert cardiac medications such as inotropes, vasopressors, anti‑arrhythmics, anticoagulants, sedatives, and insulin infusions.
• Respond swiftly to complications including arrhythmias, low cardiac output, bleeding, respiratory distress, and cardiac tamponade.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room, manage post‑operative pain, support early mobilization, and handle IABP management.
• Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists, and therapists to develop and execute care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and educate patients and families on post‑operative care and infection control practices.

Required profile

• Minimum B.Sc. in Nursing.
• At least 3 years of experience in critical care, preferably in a cardiac or thoracic ICU.
• Strong knowledge of advanced cardiac care, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment.
