Staff Nurse – Chemotherapy Administration

About the role

The role involves providing specialized nursing care to cancer patients receiving chemotherapy in Vizianagaram. The staff nurse will work closely with physicians to ensure safe drug administration and patient safety throughout treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Safely administer chemotherapy drugs according to prescribed protocols and physician orders, using intravenous (cannula and port), subcutaneous, oral, and intrathecal routes.
• Monitor patients for side effects during and after chemotherapy administration and implement appropriate interventions.
• Assess patients for potential side effects, educate them on managing common side effects at home, and provide ongoing support.
• Collaborate with physicians to manage adverse drug reactions and adjust care plans as needed.
• Assist the resident physician in responding to medical emergencies that may arise during treatment, maintaining composure and ensuring patient safety.
• Accurately document all procedures, assessments, and interventions in patient records.

Required profile

• Qualified staff nurse with experience in chemotherapy administration.
• Ability to monitor and assess patients for side effects and intervene appropriately.
• Strong communication skills for patient education and collaboration with physicians.
• Capability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
