Staff Engineer, Embedded (Senior Technical Lead)

About the role

Vistance Networks is seeking a high‑caliber Staff Embedded Software Engineer to lead the design and architecture of firmware for next‑generation Smart RF Amplifiers, Nodes, and Remote Telemetry Modules. This senior technical position will own ARM‑based MCU/MPU firmware development, spanning bare‑metal and RTOS environments, and will work closely with US‑based hardware, RF, and firmware teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, architect, and optimise low‑level firmware for ARM Cortex‑M/A microcontrollers and microprocessors on FreeRTOS, Zephyr or bare‑metal.
• Implement and fine‑tune RF control algorithms such as AGC, ALC, tilt compensation, digital attenuators and equalisers.
• Develop robust drivers for I2C, SPI, UART and GPIO to control RF chips, sensors and power monitors.
• Lead board bring‑up and co‑debugging using Keil, GDB, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
• Integrate and maintain LoRaWAN stacks for remote telemetry and long‑range low‑power communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience with a proven technical‑lead or staff‑engineer track record.
• Deep expertise in ARM Cortex architecture, assembly, linker scripts and advanced C/C++ programming.
• Extensive experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX) and bare‑metal firmware.
• Hands‑on knowledge of RF hardware control, AGC algorithms and LoRaWAN integration.

• Familiarity with DOCSIS 3.1/4.0 standards and CLI development
• Experience with secure bootloaders and FOTA mechanisms
