Solar Lead – Programme Governance & Technical Oversight

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Solar Lead to provide programme‑level governance, technical oversight, and executive escalation support for utility‑scale solar generation assets. The role will act as the PMO governance and technical escalation owner for the solar package, turning site findings, performance data, risks and interface challenges into strategic recommendations for client decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Provide programme‑level oversight of Solar EPC contractors, monitoring performance against scope, schedule, quality, commissioning and ESG commitments.
• Review and assess critical engineering, design, construction and operational issues escalated by site teams, offering technical guidance and corrective action plans.
• Coordinate key interfaces between solar facilities, grid connectivity, BESS systems and common infrastructure, ensuring integration is reflected in programme schedules.
• Assess project readiness for construction completion, commissioning, energisation, performance testing and handover, and recommend schedule improvements.
• Maintain visibility of package‑level risks, prepare executive‑level recommendations and support client technical reviews and investment decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree desirable).
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in utility‑scale solar, renewable energy or major infrastructure programmes, with proven experience managing large‑scale Solar EPC projects through construction, commissioning and handover.

Required skills

• Utility‑scale solar PV system knowledge, including grid interconnections, substations and transmission infrastructure.
• Experience with EPC project delivery, commissioning processes and performance testing.
• Strong understanding of project controls, risk management, contract administration and governance frameworks.
