Software Engineer – Unity 3D (AR/VR)

About the role

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials you will work on cutting‑edge semiconductor equipment, leveraging machine learning and AI to create immersive AR/VR experiences. The role focuses on designing, prototyping, and delivering high‑performance Unity 3D applications that solve complex customer problems.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable AR/VR applications using Unity3D.
• Create and maintain interactive user experiences across multiple platforms.
• Collaborate with designers, artists, and backend developers to integrate features.
• Optimize rendering pipelines, GPU instancing and overall performance.
• Integrate AR/VR SDKs and implement UI/UX for immersive environments.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers and stay current with emerging technologies.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of professional experience in Unity development.
• B.E/B.Tech degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Strong C# programming, MonoBehaviour framework and OOP.
• Deep knowledge of Unity design patterns (Factory, Abstract Factory, SRP, Command, Strategy, IoC, State, DOTS, Generics).
• Performance profiling and optimization using Unity Profiler, GPU Instancing, URP/HDRP pipelines.
• Experience with REST API integration, multiplayer development, and asset management (Addressables, Asset Bundles).
• Proficiency with version control (Git, GitHub, GitLab) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, JIRA and continuous integration workflows.
