Software Engineer – Secure Router Development

About the role

The Cisco Enterprise Routing team is looking for a Software Development Engineer to help build the next generation of Secure Routers. You will work across multiple software layers, from low‑level drivers to high‑performance packet forwarding, integrating modern cryptographic security and AI‑driven features.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, reliable, and secure features across the routing stack.
• Integrate hardware and software by bringing up new platforms.
• Debug complex issues across low‑level drivers, networking protocols, and system optimizations.
• Use modern development workflows, including AI‑assisted coding tools and VSCode.
• Write clean, maintainable code with unit tests, perform code reviews, and follow secure coding practices.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with hardware, product, and test teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with no experience required.
• Foundational C/C++ programming skills.
• Strong software development and debugging abilities.
• Understanding of operating systems and OSI model layers.
