Software Engineer (LIS Analyzer Integration)

About the role

CareData Informatics is looking for a Software Engineer to design and implement real‑time communication interfaces between clinical laboratory analyzers and our Laboratory Information System (LIS) platform. The role focuses on building robust middleware that connects lab instruments with hospital information systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop machine‑interface modules for integrating laboratory analyzers with the LIS platform.
• Implement serial and network communication using RS232, ASTM, HL7, TCP/IP sockets.
• Develop and maintain middleware for bi‑directional data exchange and real‑time processing.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and implementation teams to ensure secure and accurate data flow.
• Troubleshoot and debug communication, logging, and data validation issues.
• Document communication protocols, interface specifications, and configuration mappings.
• Support onboarding of new analyzers and conduct integration testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 3–7 years of hands‑on software development experience.
• Strong analytical and debugging abilities.
• Familiarity with medical laboratory workflows (haematology, biochemistry, immunoassay).
• Good understanding of healthcare standards such as HL7, LOINC or FHIR is a plus.

Required skills

• C# / .NET Framework / .NET Core (Windows Services, Console Apps, APIs).
• Serial communication (RS232) and TCP/IP socket programming.
• ASTM and HL7 protocol implementation.
• Microsoft SQL Server (queries, stored procedures).
• Multi‑threading, real‑time data processing, log monitoring.
• Version control with Git or similar tools.
