Software Engineer III – Java

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer III to join its Consumer and Community Banking technology team. In this role you will design, develop, and deliver secure, high‑quality Java applications that support the firm’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot Java‑based software solutions in an agile environment.
• Write secure, production‑ready code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with core banking systems.
• Leverage enterprise‑authorized AI coding‑assist tools to improve code quality, generate unit tests, and create documentation, while validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure design constraints are met.
• Analyze large data sets to create visualizations and reports that drive continuous improvement of applications and system architecture.
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in code or data, using insights to enhance coding hygiene and system stability.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with at least 3 years of applied experience.
• Hands‑on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability within a large corporate environment.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code using modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Proficiency with AI‑assisted development tools and the ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI‑generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
