Software Engineer II

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial & Investment Bank – Payments Technology team. In this role you will work within an agile squad to design, develop, and maintain secure, stable, and scalable software components that power the firm’s payment products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions using at least one modern programming language.
• Write secure, high-quality code and adhere to secure coding standards.
• Leverage enterprise-authorized AI-assisted coding tools for code generation, refactoring, unit-test creation and documentation, validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
• Consider upstream and downstream system impacts when designing and coding components.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-driven automation, to improve development efficiency.
• Analyze large data sets to identify issues and support decision-making for stable application delivery.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment.
• Proficiency with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Practical use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools and understanding of responsible AI practices.

Required skills

• Programming in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, C#, Python).
• Database querying (SQL or equivalent).
• AI-assisted software development tools.
• Secure coding and software-security best practices.
