Software Engineer II – Backend & Full‑Stack

About the role

Qualifacts is looking for a Software Engineer II to design and implement backend systems for a HIPAA‑compliant patient portal serving the behavioral health market. The position is based in Vadodara, India, on a permanent full‑time basis and works on‑site alongside a cross‑functional product team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python/Django.
• Own complex features from architecture through deployment, ensuring reliability and compliance.
• Contribute to system design decisions and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Integrate with external EHR platforms via asynchronous, event‑driven pipelines and message queues.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Deliver frontend features in React when required.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production experience building applications with Python/Django or similar stacks.
• Strong systems thinking with an ability to reason about distributed state, failure modes, and long‑term design trade‑offs.
• Deep understanding of SQL, data modeling, migrations, and query optimization.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed systems, async workflows, and event‑driven architecture.
• Proficiency with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, and SNS.
• Willingness to support frontend development using React.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
