Software Engineer – Azure SQL Database Capacity Management

About the role

Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and scale the capacity‑management infrastructure for Azure SQL Database. You will work on mission‑critical services that allocate, place, and manage the lifecycle of database workloads in the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable services for capacity allocation and placement of Azure SQL Database workloads.
• Improve reliability, performance, and availability through automation, observability, and proactive incident prevention.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional Azure Data teams to deliver resilient, customer‑centric solutions.
• Apply modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, test automation, telemetry‑driven development, and DevOps workflows.
• Enhance developer productivity by building tooling, frameworks, and automation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience coding in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
