Software Development Manager

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Software Development Manager to lead a team of 8‑10 engineers within SAS’s R&D division. In this role you will combine deep product knowledge with strong software construction expertise to drive high‑quality, innovative solutions that support our analytics platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and evaluate a cross‑functional engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture.
• Define, scope and schedule medium‑complexity software projects, tracking progress and communicating status to stakeholders.
• Ensure delivery of robust code that meets quality standards and aligns with SAS product strategy.
• Coordinate development, testing, and release activities, managing internal and external communication.
• Support professional growth of team members through coaching, training and performance management.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing software engineering teams of similar size.
• Strong ability to balance technical depth with strategic planning.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of representing departmental interests across the organization.
• Demonstrated accountability and a track record of delivering projects on schedule.
