Software Development Engineer II – Full Stack Backend Focus

About the role

Design, build, and operate backend‑heavy full‑stack services for Expedia Group’s Modern Checkout platform, creating brand‑agnostic, product‑agnostic capabilities that serve hotels, flights, activities, and packages at global scale. You will work in a cloud‑native environment to deliver highly secure and performant checkout experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Own problems end‑to‑end across the stack, from clarifying requirements and designing APIs to implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop and evolve microservices using Kotlin, Java, or C#/.NET, integrating with AWS‑hosted data stores, caches, and streaming systems.
• Implement resilient, observable, tier‑zero checkout services and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and partner teams to decompose legacy monoliths into reusable, brand‑agnostic services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 2 years of experience delivering full‑lifecycle services in a cloud environment.
• Strong coding, problem‑solving, and analytical skills with solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and complexity.
