Software Developer – Java & Spring Boot

About the role

Barclays is looking for a Software Developer to join its digital team in Chennai. You will help shape the bank’s digital products by building robust, high‑performance Java applications and driving innovation across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver high‑quality software solutions using Java, Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and fellow engineers to define requirements and create scalable architectures.
• Participate in code reviews, promote best‑practice coding standards and share knowledge within the team.
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends and contribute to internal technology communities.
• Apply secure coding practices and implement thorough unit testing to ensure reliability and security.

Required profile

• Graduate degree (bachelor’s) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of OOP concepts and core Java (JDK 8+).
• Experience with collections, concurrency, generics, I/O, Streams API and Java memory management.
• Hands‑on experience with multi‑threading and Spring Boot/Spring Cloud frameworks.
• Product development experience and familiarity with GraphQL are a plus.
