Skilled Pipe Laborer

About the role

R&R Construction is seeking motivated individuals to join our pipe labor team. As a Skilled Pipe Laborer you will assist in installing sanitary sewer, storm sewer and potable water pipelines, ensuring high quality and safety standards on each project.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain trenches, adhering to safety requirements and soil type considerations.
• Operate hand and power tools such as shovels, cut‑off saws, tampers and jack‑hammers.
• Cut, glue, slip‑joint or mechanically fit plastic and ductile‑iron pipe sections.
• Set structures including catch basins, manholes, outlet structures and meter pits to correct depth and alignment.
• Use pipe laser equipment to verify trench grade, depth and pipe alignment.
• Cement around pipes, inlets and manholes and inspect installations for defects.
• Communicate pipe positioning to equipment operators using hand signals.
• Review blueprints with the Pipe Supervisor and follow best‑practice installation methods.

Required profile

• Understanding of trench safety, soil types and protective systems.
• Ability to work safely and collaboratively in a construction environment.
• Attention to detail when checking grades and pipe alignment.
• Willingness to follow instructions and maintain high safety standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with shovels, cut‑off saws and tampers.
• Experience using jack‑hammers on asphalt or concrete.
• Ability to cut and join plastic and ductile‑iron pipe.
• Competence with pipe laser technology for depth and grade verification.
• Basic cementing and pipe installation techniques.
