Site Manager – Launch New India Office

About the role

ArangoDB is opening its first office in India and needs a hands‑on leader to drive the launch and daily operations of the Hyderabad site. You will act as the bridge between the global headquarters and the local market, ensuring the office is ready from day one and that the initial engineering team is recruited and supported.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, negotiate and secure a modern, scalable office lease in Hyderabad.
• Coordinate procurement of hardware, networking, security systems and furniture to create a day‑one ready workspace.
• Manage local vendors for housekeeping and facility maintenance.
• Partner with HR and Finance to develop local HR policies, employee handbook and payroll compliant with Indian labor laws (EPF, ESI, Gratuity, TDS).
• Ensure full compliance with the POSH Act and local leave policies.
• Lead recruitment of the core engineering team, overseeing sourcing, interviewing and onboarding.
• Serve as cultural ambassador, aligning the India site with global teams while respecting local nuances.
• Provide regular progress reports to global HQ on setup milestones and budget spend.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in operations or engineering management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the Indian tech industry.
• Proven track record of setting up new offices or sites from scratch.
• Strong knowledge of Indian labor regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
