Shift In‑Charge – Sheet Metal Fabrication Leader

About the role

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Shift In‑Charge to lead shop‑floor operations for sheet‑metal fabrication at its Kancheepuram facility. You will be responsible for meeting production targets while maintaining quality, safety, and continuous‑improvement standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage shift‑wise production activities to achieve daily output goals.
• Allocate and supervise operators, helpers, and technicians based on skill matrix and production needs.
• Conduct shift briefings, toolbox talks, and daily performance reviews.
• Operate and oversee CNC punching machines (Amada & Prima), ensuring proper setup, tooling, and preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate with planning, quality, and maintenance teams for scheduling, inspection, and issue resolution.
• Drive Lean manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to improve cycle time and efficiency.
• Enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, and report unsafe conditions.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a production shift in a sheet‑metal or similar manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and resolve workforce challenges.
• Good understanding of production planning, quality assurance, and safety compliance.

Required skills

• CNC punching operation (Amada, Prima)
• Sheet‑metal fabrication processes (bending, nesting, tooling selection)
• Lean manufacturing and 5S methodology
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC equipment
