Senior/Staff Firmware Engineer – Device Software

About the role

SPAN is looking for a senior‑level Firmware Engineer to join its Device Software team in Bangalore. You will work on the lowest‑level software that runs on SPAN’s hardware products, from bootloaders to RTOS‑based applications, directly impacting the user experience of clean‑energy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement OTA systems across multiple communication interfaces, processor types and products, ensuring secure encryption and high reliability.
• Invent data‑streaming architectures for new product families that satisfy data‑science requirements and safety guarantees.
• Represent the Device Software team in cross‑functional settings, evangelize engineering best practices, and participate in code and design reviews.
• Author technical documents and support engineers across the organization to achieve project goals.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience developing firmware or embedded Linux software for hardware devices using C or C++.
• Strong fundamentals in modern software design, including object‑oriented design and manual memory management.
• Hands‑on experience with standard electrical interfaces such as UART, I2C, and USB.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of taking ownership of projects.
