Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical building services design for new‑build projects. The role involves delivering detailed designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and representing the company in client meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical building services designs, including lighting, power distribution, switchgear, IT systems, schematics, schedules, floor plans and specifications.
• Lead electrical engineering delivery for medium‑ and small‑scale MEP projects and support large multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Manage the design process from proposal through to completion, ensuring compliance with client briefs and project schedules.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing guidance and technical oversight.
• Represent AECOM at client progress and design meetings, coordinating with suppliers and other professionals.

Required profile

• Minimum MEng or equivalent postgraduate qualification; Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred.
• Proven experience leading electrical engineering on MEP or multidisciplinary projects.
• Ability to gather, analyse and correlate engineering data using established procedures.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with experience performing calculations and simple tests.
• Capability to work within agreed budgets and schedules with minimal supervision.
