Senior Water Resources Modelling Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Water Resources Modelling Engineer to lead complex hydrologic and hydraulic modelling projects, flood risk studies, and climate resilience initiatives for both domestic and international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development, calibration, validation, and interpretation of HEC‑HMS and HEC‑RAS (1D/2D) models.
• Deliver flood risk assessments, flood forecasting & early warning systems, watershed management, river engineering, and urban storm‑water projects.
• Perform advanced geospatial analysis using ArcGIS/QGIS, including DEM processing, terrain analysis, and flood inundation mapping.
• Support climate resilience and sustainable water resources planning initiatives.
• Provide technical oversight, quality assurance, and mentor junior engineers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and schedules, and interface with clients, government agencies, and funding institutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 8‑10 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and water resources engineering.
• Proven expertise in HEC‑HMS and HEC‑RAS modelling and delivery of flood risk and watershed projects.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high technical standards.
