Senior Unix Engineer – System Manager

About the role

Avaloq is seeking a Senior Unix Engineer to design, implement and operate secure, scalable and highly‑available Unix/Linux infrastructure for its banking SaaS platform. You will work across on‑premises data centres and public cloud environments, ensuring reliability and performance for mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain enterprise Unix/Linux environments in data‑center and cloud (OCI/AWS) settings.
• Own Linux‑based Dev, Test and Production environments with a focus on availability and reliability.
• Install, configure, patch and upgrade systems following security and operational standards.
• Monitor performance, capacity and health, proactively optimising resources.
• Lead incident resolution, perform root‑cause analysis and drive remediation.
• Implement security controls, access management and OS hardening.
• Support high‑availability, disaster‑recovery and resilience strategies.
• Collaborate with database, network, cloud and application teams for integrated service delivery.
• Automate processes using Shell, Python, Ansible, Terraform and other IaC tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of Unix/Linux system administration (RHEL, Oracle Linux or equivalent).
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive automation.
