Senior Software Engineer

About the role

The National Robotics Engineering Center is looking for a dynamic Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software that powers advanced robotic systems. You will work alongside world‑class robotics professionals on projects ranging from industrial operator‑assist tools to autonomous safety platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, troubleshoot, and maintain core software applications for robotic platforms and supporting infrastructure.
• Drive high‑level software architecture, data pipelines, and system requirements while balancing scalability and hardware constraints.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, UI/UX developers, product leads, and external sponsors to translate operational needs into technical specifications.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Build and maintain development tools, CI/CD pipelines, and logging/telemetry solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing complex software systems for robotics or related fields.
• Strong ability to work cross‑functionally with hardware and product teams.
• Demonstrated leadership in software architecture and technical decision‑making.
• Passion for mentoring and fostering collaborative development practices.

Required skills

• Experience with CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of logging and telemetry tools for embedded systems.
