Senior Rolling Stock Engineer – Mechanical (K3)

About the role

SYSTRA India is looking for a Senior Rolling Stock Engineer – Mechanical (K3) to join the General Consultant team for Mumbai Metro Lines 5, 7A and 9. The role focuses on the design, development and delivery of mechanical systems for metro trains, ensuring high reliability, safety and compliance with standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of mechanical subsystems for metro rolling stock, adhering to national and international standards.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets and resource allocation for rolling‑stock initiatives.
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies to maximise train availability and safety.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting mechanical issues and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Perform risk assessments and ensure all systems meet safety and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in rolling‑stock or metro system projects.
• Prior experience on metro projects is a strong advantage.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
