Senior Principal Data Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Principal Data Engineer to lead complex data and software engineering projects. You will drive innovative solutions, ensure high‑quality delivery, and align technical strategy with business goals across a global payments ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Lead major, long‑term projects with broad business impact, delivering cost‑effective, high‑quality solutions.
• Oversee day‑to‑day system development and maintenance to meet SLA commitments.
• Collaborate with business and technical partners to define scope, ROI, risks, and constraints.
• Develop strategic technical plans, architecture proposals, and solution definitions.
• Conduct research, proof‑of‑concepts, and technology road‑mapping to guide future investments.
• Partner with Project Managers to create detailed cost and time estimates, define technical scope, and manage project lifecycle.
• Define and lead quality assurance and control processes, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
• Assist in vendor selection, RFI/RFP processes, and technology evaluations.
