Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer - z/OS

About the role

The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer will support ongoing projects by installing, testing, and implementing new operating systems and system software on z/OS platforms. The role also includes maintenance, debugging, and performance tuning of mainframe environments, as well as mentoring less‑experienced team members.

Key responsibilities

• Provide formal mentorship and lead high‑complexity assignments, while overseeing moderate and low‑complexity tasks.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert, delivering thought leadership and technical architecture for storage hardware and software solutions.
• Collaborate with hardware and software vendors, participate in client meetings, and contribute to new business proposals.
• Design and implement automated monitoring techniques for problem identification and prevention.
• Document problem analysis, resolution procedures, and best‑practice guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of hands‑on mainframe systems programming experience.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior associates.
• Strong leadership and communication skills for client interactions and internal guidance.
