Senior Mainframe Automation Engineer

About the role

Ensono is seeking a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer focused on automation to join its Automation Engineering team in Pune, India. The role involves designing, building, testing and maintaining automation, monitoring and system availability solutions within a highly automated z/OS environment, and supporting global mainframe operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test and maintain automation, monitoring and system availability solutions in a highly automated z/OS mainframe environment.
• Plan and execute disaster‑recovery drills, including failover and failback activities.
• Provide 24x7 on‑call support for z/OS applications across production, test and development environments.
• Collaborate with Mainframe Engineering teams in Basel, Zurich and Weehawken to ensure seamless operations.
• Ensure system availability and compliance with Service Level Agreements.
• Analyze problems and develop REXX scripts to implement solutions.

Required skills

• z/OS mainframe platforms.
• SA390 and BMC MainView products.
• IBM Parallel Sysplex technologies (GDPS, Hyperswap, PPRC).
• REXX scripting.
• AI‑driven automation tools such as BMC AMI Ops.
• Automation infrastructure components (AutoOperator, Netview, Netcool, BigPanda).
• BMC product interfaces (IMFEXEC, AOEXEC, TOMEXEC).
• System start, image isolation, shutdown and TOM backup/restore procedures.
• MS Office suite.
