Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel provides strategic legal advice across all aspects of the company's upstream oil & gas service operations. The role safeguards commercial interests, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports senior management in achieving business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and administer commercial agreements such as oilfield service contracts, MSAs, procurement and joint‑venture agreements.
• Advise management on contractual rights, obligations, liabilities and commercial risks.
• Lead legal negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers; develop standard contract templates and legal playbooks.
• Provide corporate governance advice, support board and shareholder meetings, and manage corporate restructuring, mergers, acquisitions and divestments.
• Ensure compliance with Omani commercial, labour, tax, competition, data‑protection, environmental and oil & gas regulations; monitor legal developments and develop internal compliance policies.
• Manage contractual disputes, coordinate litigation and arbitration with external counsel, and oversee settlement negotiations.
• Identify legal and contractual risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support enterprise risk‑management initiatives.
• Deliver day‑to‑day legal support to operations, contracts, supply chain, finance, HR, HSE, business development and intellectual‑property matters.

Required profile

• Senior‑level legal professional with extensive experience in upstream oil & gas services.
• Strong knowledge of Omani commercial companies law, labour law, tax, competition, data‑protection, environmental and industry‑specific regulations.
• Proven ability to work closely with senior management and cross‑functional teams.
• Experience handling corporate governance, mergers & acquisitions, and restructuring projects.
