Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer - Underground Hard Rock Mining

About the role

AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team is seeking a Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead design packages for underground hard‑rock mining projects in Bengaluru. The role involves delivering high‑quality mechanical solutions for materials handling, fixed‑plant systems and ventilation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design for underground mining, materials handling and fixed‑plant projects.
• Design and analyse conveyor systems using Sidewinder or Belt Analyst, including sizing, power calculations and dynamic assessment.
• Develop bulk‑solids handling solutions for bins, chutes, feeders, transfer stations and ore‑handling systems.
• Prepare calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, scopes of work and design reports.
• Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, process, controls, ventilation and geotechnical interfaces.
• Support procurement, vendor engagement, tender evaluation, construction, commissioning and operational‑readiness activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• At least 8 years of mechanical engineering experience with significant exposure to mining, bulk materials handling or heavy industry.
• Demonstrated capability in conveyor systems, transfer systems, fixed plant and bulk‑materials handling.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English and confidence engaging with international stakeholders.
