Senior Java Engineer

About the role

EY is hiring a Senior Java Engineer for its Advisory Digital-FS Java team in Chennai. The role leads the team from a technical-deliverable perspective for customers worldwide, mentors staff on Java/J2EE or emerging technologies, takes part in technical decisions with architects and helps shape solution architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on development projects using Java technologies, working closely with clients to understand their business, functional, technical and implementation requirements.
• Plan and monitor project deliverables, prepare technical solution and architecture documents, artefacts and presentations for the customer, and communicate regularly with client teams.
• Contribute to technology-stack evaluation, design and govern reusable accelerators and technical components (error handling, logging, etc.), and lead and mentor development teams.
• Translate functional requirements into a solution, allocate tasks, evaluate team performance and interview candidates when needed.
• Lead high-level solution design for RFPs, size projects and estimate effort, and foster a collaborative, agile environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management or a related field.
• 6 to 9 years of experience, including leading teams.
• Experience with development best practices, clean coding, unit testing and Agile/Scrum projects.
• Ability to travel according to client requirements and strong communication and team-building skills.

Required skills

• Java 17/21+, J2EE, Spring Boot, JPA, Spring Cloud, Microservices, REST APIs, messaging (Kafka, MQ) and event processing.
• SQL Server/Oracle, MongoDB, Git, CI/CD, JUnit, CMMI knowledge.
• Preferred: Azure, OAuth/SSO/SAML/LDAP basics, Angular/React, and distributed architectures (SOAP, REST, ESB).
