Senior Financial Controller – US Accounting

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Financial Controller to lead the full financial close process for a US‑focused accounting function. The role combines rigorous financial reporting, audit oversight, and strategic partnership with operations to drive cost control and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and year‑end close, accruals, financial statements, management reporting and forecasting.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and client‑specific reporting requirements.
• Oversee revenue accounting, Joint Interest Billing (JIB), AFEs, DD&A, ARO and asset impairment accounting.
• Design and maintain internal controls, accounting policies and governance frameworks.
• Lead external audit coordination and ensure timely audit closure.
• Monitor debt covenants, financing terms and reporting obligations.
• Manage cash, banking relationships, treasury activities and SOFR‑based credit facilities.
• Supervise hedge accounting and coordinate with counterparties.
• Partner with operations on cost control, budgeting, well economics and process improvements.
• Identify and drive automation, standardisation and reporting enhancements.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of 4‑5 finance professionals.

Required profile

• 10‑12 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in energy or similar capital‑intensive industries.
• Proven ability to manage complex close cycles and lead audit processes.
• Strong client‑facing communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly.
• Experience managing cash, treasury and hedge accounting functions.
• Demonstrated leadership in building and developing finance teams.
