Senior Financial Controller – US Accounting

About the role

The Senior Financial Controller will own the end‑to‑end financial close process for a US‑focused accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with US GAAP and client requirements, and providing strategic financial insight to the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end and year‑end close activities, accruals, financial statements, management reporting and forecasting.
• Oversee revenue accounting, Joint Interest Billing (JIB), AFEs, DD&A, ARO and asset impairment accounting.
• Design, implement and maintain internal controls, accounting policies and governance frameworks.
• Lead external audit coordination, audit preparedness and timely closure of audit requirements.
• Monitor compliance with debt covenants, financing terms and reporting obligations.
• Direct cash management, banking relationships, treasury coordination and support SOFR‑based credit facilities and capital raise processes.
• Manage hedge accounting activities and coordinate with counterparties and stakeholders.
• Partner with operations on cost control, well economics, budgeting insights and process improvements.
• Identify and drive automation, standardisation and reporting enhancements across finance processes.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of 4‑5 finance professionals.
• Act as a client‑facing finance leader, presenting insights and supporting decision‑making.

Required profile

• 10‑12 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in US GAAP environments.
• Proven experience leading financial close, audit coordination and cash management functions.
• Strong knowledge of debt covenant compliance and treasury operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop finance teams.
• Excellent communication skills for client‑facing and cross‑functional collaboration.
