Senior Engineering Manager, Backend

About the role

Poshmark is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple backend engineering teams and shape the technical direction of a major product area. This role blends organizational leadership with deep technical judgment, allowing you to influence architecture and drive execution across several teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams across a product area and define engineering strategy aligned with company goals.
• Develop Engineering Managers and technical leaders, handling staffing, hiring, and succession planning.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and executive leadership to drive large cross‑functional initiatives.
• Improve engineering processes while avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy and ensure architectural consistency across teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years of engineering management experience.
• Experience managing managers or multiple engineering teams, with a strong background in building large distributed systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across complex organizations and proven ability to execute large, cross‑functional programs.
• Excellent communication and organizational leadership skills.
