Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Ethos is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Data Platform team, building the internal infrastructure, services, and tooling that power the company’s data stack. The role blends software engineering with deep data expertise, supporting engineers, analytics engineers, data scientists, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate internal data platforms and distributed workflow systems such as Temporal and Airflow.
• Develop and maintain internal Python libraries, shared Airflow operators, and framework components used across engineering teams.
• Create config‑driven UI applications that enable users to author and run ingestion and transformation jobs.
• Administer Snowflake, including role hierarchy, RBAC, data masking, network policies, resource monitors, and cost governance.
• Own end‑to‑end production code lifecycle: design, review, deployment, operation, and incident response.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and optimization for Snowflake, dbt Cloud, Airflow, Kafka, and other platform services.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go or Python.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design.
• Experience building and maintaining backend systems, internal tools, or platform applications in production.
• Proficiency in SQL and data modeling, with a good grasp of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data governance.
