Senior Consultant – Real Time Optimization Engineer

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a motivated Senior Consultant to join its Optimization team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on delivering Real Time Optimization (RTO) solutions for chemical plants and refineries, combining control engineering expertise with chemical engineering knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications for process industries.
• Maintain and support existing RTO solutions.
• Provide customer consultancy and technical guidance.
• Execute additional process‑industry software implementations.
• Support practice initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required profile

• Degree in Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field (B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech).
• 10‑12 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of unit operations in chemical plants and refineries.
• Experience simulating distillation towers, compressors, expanders, heat‑integrated systems and refinery conversion units.
• Ability to analyse process simulation results and solve complex problems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Required skills

• Real Time Optimization (RTO) application expertise.
• Process simulation of distillation, compression, expansion and heat‑integration.
• Visual Basic for Excel.
• SQL query development.
• Scripting languages such as TCL.
• OPC protocol for system communication.
• Knowledge of Production Accounting and Planning & Scheduling applications.
