Senior Coastal Engineer / Breakwater specialist

About the role

A Senior Coastal Engineer leads the planning, design, and delivery of complex coastal and marine infrastructure projects, providing sustainable, resilient, and cost‑effective solutions to challenges such as erosion, flooding, sea‑level rise and storm impacts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and analysis of coastal protection works (seawalls, breakwaters, revetments, groynes, intake‑outfall projects) and conduct hydrodynamic and sediment‑transport modelling using MIKE, Delft3D, SWAN.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams, develop scopes, budgets and schedules, and monitor progress, quality and financial performance.
• Serve as primary technical contact for clients, regulators and stakeholders, presenting findings and supporting business development.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers, review design calculations and promote knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Coastal, Ocean or related engineering.
• 8–15+ years of experience in design of coastal or marine projects, with strong knowledge of coastal processes, wave theory, sediment transport and coastal structures.
• Proficiency in coastal modelling tools and software, and experience managing large‑scale infrastructure or climate‑resilience projects.
