Senior Business Controller – Assets Lead

About the role

The Assets Lead / Business Controller is a senior finance leadership position supporting a high‑growth performance unit in oil and gas production. You will partner with joint‑venture partners, auditors, government representatives and internal teams to drive performance, ensure compliance and provide financial insight for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of monthly performance reporting, latest estimates and quarterly business monitoring.
• Ensure timely statutory, group, regulatory and joint‑venture reporting in line with the Shell control framework.
• Support business planning, financial appraisal and strategic decision‑making with robust P&L, balance‑sheet and cash‑flow analysis.
• Provide expert guidance on accounting policies, IFRS, impairments, de‑commissioning provisions and M&A events.
• Oversee asset‑finance processes such as Value of Work Done, Approval for Expenditure, cost and capex reporting, and manual journal entries.
• Drive working‑capital performance by reviewing receivables, payables and inventory balances.
• Develop and lead a high‑performing finance team, fostering process simplification and stronger controls.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with strong technical capability and commercial insight.
• Proven experience in oil & gas or similar capital‑intensive industry.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people, influence stakeholders and drive change.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS, group reporting and joint‑venture accounting.
