Senior Associate (GST Litigation & Advisory)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Associate to lead GST litigation and advisory matters for a diverse client base. The role involves managing client relationships, drafting legal responses, and representing clients before various tax forums across India.

Key responsibilities

• Handle GST litigation exclusively, including drafting replies to notices, appeals, and writ petitions.
• Lead a team of 2‑4 associates and coordinate with in‑house and outsourced attorneys.
• Travel nationwide to represent clients before departmental authorities, tribunals, and high courts.
• Prepare briefs for senior advocates and assist clients during enquiries, investigations, searches, and audits.
• Maintain independent responsibility for smaller clients while supporting larger engagements.
• Develop rapport with client legal, tax, and finance teams and identify new business opportunities.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in GST law.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in GST litigation and advisory.
• LLB degree; preference given to candidates with CA, CS, CMA, or MBA in finance.
• Strong academic record from recognized law colleges (e.g., NLU, DU, Symbiosis, GLC, NMIMS).
• Willingness to travel across India and work flexible hours, including weekends when required.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot tables, reconciliation).
