Senior AI Software Engineer

About the role

Circles is looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer to design, build, and scale production‑grade AI and LLM capabilities across its core backend services. You will create agentic workflows, integrate LLM‑powered endpoints, and take features from prototype to reliable production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain AI/LLM features across backend services, including secure, observable API integrations.
• Build Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines: document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector indexing, and grounded responses with citations.
• Develop secure AI APIs, SDKs, and integrations with authentication, RBAC, rate‑limiting, budget controls, and provider failover.
• Apply safety and compliance guardrails such as PII redaction, content moderation, and audit logging.
• Define and automate evaluation frameworks for task success, response quality, hallucination, latency, and cost.

Required profile

• 4‑5+ years of software engineering experience, with hands‑on delivery of AI or LLM systems in production.
• Proven experience designing and operating agentic AI/LLM systems, including planning/execution loops and multi‑agent workflows.
• Strong full‑stack background: Node.js, TypeScript, React, and solid API engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to work collaboratively with product, design, frontend, and QA teams throughout sprint planning and code reviews.
