Senior Accountant – Mumbai

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable standards. This role supports budgeting, audits and financial analysis, and mentors junior staff within a dynamic finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Maintain the general ledger, record accurate journal entries and manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance‑sheet accounts and intercompany transactions.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, providing required documentation.
• Prepare tax schedules and support tax compliance.
• Analyze financial data and recommend improvements to performance and controls.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA or CA) preferred.
• 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and taxation.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or NetSuite.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
