Safety Manager

About the role

The Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of health and safety programmes across construction sites. This role ensures compliance with national regulations and international standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement site‑specific health & safety policies, procedures and emergency response plans.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 45001, BOCW Act, NBC, British Safety Council Five‑Star and other relevant standards.
• Conduct detailed risk assessments, job hazard analyses and regular site inspections.
• Identify unsafe conditions, propose corrective actions and lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses and dangerous occurrences.
• Maintain accident records, prepare reports for management and regulatory authorities.
• Evaluate and approve contractors based on EHS performance and monitor their compliance.
• Prepare and circulate safety inspection reports with actionable outcomes.
• Coordinate safety training programmes and oversee fire and life‑safety equipment installation, testing and maintenance.
• Conduct fire risk assessments, fire load calculations and develop fire‑related emergency response plans.
• Monitor, analyse and report safety performance metrics, recommending continuous improvements.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, BOCW Act, NBC and British Safety Council Five‑Star standards.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses and site inspections in construction environments.
• Proven ability to lead incident investigations and develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Ability to evaluate contractor EHS performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
