Rolling Stock Professional – Converter Software Development Engineer

About the role

Siemens Mobility is seeking a Converter Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and validate software for railway converters. You will work closely with system engineers to translate requirements into robust, safety‑critical code and ensure seamless integration with hardware in rail applications.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with system engineers to review and refine converter control requirements.
• Develop, review, and test software for railway converters, adhering to functional safety standards.
• Create and validate functional specifications through lab and train testing.
• Perform design and code reviews, ensuring compliance with industry safety regulations.
• Investigate and resolve moderately complex software issues, documenting solutions.
• Use diagnostic and troubleshooting tools to maintain system performance throughout the product lifecycle.
• Communicate technical information effectively to cross‑functional teams, including TCMS, manufacturing, and suppliers.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in software development for safety‑critical or embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of functional safety concepts and railway industry standards.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Software development for embedded or safety‑critical applications.
• Functional safety knowledge (e.g., IEC 61508/IEC 62279).
