Rolling Stock Mechanical Expert – Metro Projects

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a senior Rolling Stock Expert (Mechanical) to lead the mechanical design and integration for upcoming metro bids across India. The role focuses on defining and validating mechanical subsystems of metro rolling stock, ensuring they meet both Indian and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define requirements for car body structure, bogies, suspension, couplers, HVAC systems, and interior fittings.
• Coordinate with electrical, signaling, and depot teams to guarantee seamless integration of mechanical subsystems.
• Support factory acceptance tests, dynamic trials, and commissioning of mechanical components.
• Ensure compliance with UIC, EN, IEC standards and metro rail guidelines.
• Prepare technical inputs, compliance matrices, and design documentation for bid submissions.
• Review supplier proposals, evaluate technical solutions, and monitor supplier performance.

Required profile

• Graduate in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in railway or railway‑related industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in urban rail passenger‑carrying systems.

Required skills

• Mechanical design of car bodies, bogies, suspension, and couplers.
• HVAC system design and interior fitting expertise.
• Knowledge of UIC, EN, and IEC standards.
• Experience with factory acceptance testing, dynamic trials, and commissioning.
• Supplier evaluation and performance monitoring.
