Retrofit Solutions SB Designer

About the role

The Retrofit Solutions SB Designer will support the Retrofit Solutions organization within Customer Services Engineering & Maintenance. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality Service Bulletins (SBs) that ensure aircraft airworthiness, safety, and operational profitability for Airbus customers.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret design definitions and installation principles for airframe structures, especially Hydro‑Meca, Cabin, and Cargo systems.
• Collect and synthesize source documents (TRS/MAS, design drawings, SB files, 3D datasets) and perform technical analysis of pre‑ and post‑modification solutions.
• Define SB configurations, calculate man‑hour estimates, and develop component lists, including long‑lead items and wiring bundles.
• Author Service Bulletins in SAMM‑DACAS, create detailed installation/removal procedures, and generate technical illustrations using Tec‑Draw.
• Proofread internal SBs for Airbus compliance and approve supplier‑generated SBs.
• Respond to customer technical requests, provide on‑site assistance for SB validation, and maintain interfaces with Engineering, Material Supply, and Tech Data teams throughout the SB lifecycle.

Required profile

• B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• 6‑10 years of experience as a Service Bulletin Designer on aerospace projects.
• Airbus‑certified proofreader for Service Bulletin production release (preferred).
• Strong understanding of airframe structures, especially Hydro‑Meca, Cabin, and Cargo configurations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ATA iSpec 2200 and S1000D specifications and Simplified Technical English.
• Hands‑on experience with Airbus toolset: SAMM‑DACAS, Arbortext Editor, CIRCE, GIDOCA, GILDA, APS, VPM, PASS SSCI.
• Digital Mock‑Up (DMU) tools: 3D‑JUMMP, NOV.
• Ability to interpret complex 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Technical illustration creation using Tec‑Draw.
