Registered Nurse – Discharge Lounge

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to work in the Discharge Lounge of NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital. The role focuses on coordinating the safe and efficient discharge of post‑surgery and procedure patients, ensuring that all clinical and social care arrangements are in place before they leave hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients ready for discharge and verify completion of clinical tasks.
• Liaise with ward staff, multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to arrange social care packages.
• Prepare and update discharge documentation in the electronic health record system.
• Provide patients and families with clear information about post‑hospital care and follow‑up.
• Prioritise competing demands to meet patient and service needs.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current UK registration.
• Caring and compassionate attitude towards patients and colleagues.
• Strong communication skills and a “can‑do” approach.
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and patient evaluation.
• Discharge planning and coordination.
