R&D Engineer

About the role

ABB is looking for an R&D Engineer to join its Electrification business in the Distribution Solutions division in Nashik, India. The role involves contributing to technology, software, product, and system development for medium‑voltage switchgear.

Key responsibilities

• Work independently on R&D projects with limited supervision.
• Perform tasks across mechanics, electronics, thermal, and software domains, from concept creation to design, implementation, integration, testing, technology transfer, maintenance, and operations.
• Apply relevant processes, standards, guidelines, and architectural constraints.
• Drive achievement of quality, time, scope, and cost targets while identifying and managing risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (full‑time).
• 4–8 years of experience in design and development of mechanical parts and assemblies, including sheet‑metal, casted & machined metal, and molded plastic components.
• Hands‑on experience with prototyping, type testing, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo 3D CAD software.
• Strong technical knowledge of medium‑voltage switchgear (AIS, GIS, RMU).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
