Railway Rolling Stock Engineer

About the role

RINA is seeking a Railway Rolling Stock Engineer to join its Electronics and System Engineering Division in Mumbai. The role focuses on inspecting and verifying the manufacturing of rail vehicles such as locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, coaches, and metro trains to ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards, and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform in‑process and final inspections of rolling stock components and assemblies.
• Conduct witness and hold‑point inspections according to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Identify and document non‑conformities (NCRs) and track corrective actions.
• Inspect welded structures for EN 15085 compliance and review welding procedures, qualifications, and certifications.
• Carry out visual and dimensional checks on carbody structures and critical components.
• Verify installation of electrical wiring, panels, and onboard systems against schematics.
• Witness functional, type, and acceptance tests (FAI, FAT, SAT, SIT, static and dynamic tests).
• Maintain detailed inspection records, quality reports, and certification packages.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in rolling stock manufacturing, inspection, or quality control.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of EN 15085, EN 12663, EN 45545, IEC standards and quality processes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and pneumatic schematics.
